Meet the face behind 1WORLD!
Carolina Cannard
Carolina is a French-Greek translator and interpreter, currently based in New Zealand.
Carolina was raised fully bilingual - she was born in France and grew up in Greece. The first novel she ever read in English was Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, and she recalls feeling frustrated as a young teen in Athens, stopping after every few sentences to look up words in her *paper* dictionary (no Google translate back then!). Maybe this is where her love of languages began?
Many books later, Carolina found herself in Paris and Montpellier, studying at university and majoring in what she always enjoyed exploring – foreign languages (and eating fresh pains au chocolat)!
Although she specialises in French & Greek, she also collaborates with trusted colleagues for projects in many other languages, such as Spanish, Portuguese, German, Russian and more! When she is not translating or interpreting, she is conducting research for her PhD thesis, which explores the experiences of refugee women who use interpreters in New Zealand.
In 2022 she decided it was time to step up her freelance game. That’s when 1World Translation & Interpreting was born! She is very happy to welcome you to her website!
